Best Moment: Mitch Garver walks it off
Like the aforementioned Jorge Polanco, fellow team newcomer Mitch Garver hasn't exactly lived up to expectations. His .553 OPS is not what fans expected after a productive year with the Rangers but he's been able to find his moments here and there. His clutch gene was on full display as he stepped up to the plate in the final inning of the first game against A.J. Minter. On a lazy cutter, Garver sent the ball 412 feet to give Seattle the 2-1 victory.
It seems very likely that this moment ignited the necessary momentum for the Mariners to win the following game as well and even though they weren't able to complete the sweep, a series win over the Braves is a significant accomplishment for any team in 2024.
The Mariners head into an off day winners of five straight series, sitting atop the AL West. Houston, Minnesota, Oakland, and Kansas City are the next four opponents up before another off day, so let's all hope that Polanco, Garver, and the rest of the Mariners can keep this up this hot play.
