It's funny. We sit here all winter, waiting for baseball to come back. We all get excited as prospect news, FA, and trades happen. Then, February rolls around and another wave of excitement hits as we realize that the Mariners pitchers and catchers are only a couple of weeks away from reporting and that they'll be in town even earlier if they are playing in the World Baseball Classic. Still, those first games seem to spring up out of nowhere, happening a bit earlier than most people realize.
Did you know, that from the moment this is published on February 3rd, that the Mariners first ST game is only three weeks away? It's a Vedder Cup special, as the Mariners first game will be against the Padres on February 24th, the first of 31 Spring Training Games for the M's.
For those who might be down in Arizona, or even looking to take a little vacation to enjoy some nice weather, the Mariners play their games in Peoria at the Peoria Sports Complex, which they share with the San Diego Padres. It's an incredible location and a must-see for anyone who is in the area.
Details are a little sketchy when it comes to what games are going to be televised, but it seems like the Mariners have been doing a better job in the past to get more and more of them out there for the viewers. ROOT Sports will have the games at the Peoria Complex, but chances are the non-Peoria games will be Radio only. You can also check out www.sports.mynorthwest.com to stream the games.
If you don't have the chance to sit and watch, you can always listen to the games through either 710 AM ESPN in Seattle, or through the MLB app. Each game should be there, so you'll never miss out on any of the action for the Mariners.
I know we are a few weeks out still, but have no fear. The Mariners will be back on our screens and radio soon as baseball is right around the corner. Stay tuned for more Mariners Spring Training news, including prospects to watch, the non-roster invitees, position battles, and much more!
