IT'S ALMOST TIME! It's the first day of February, and that always gets me excited for baseball season, because it means that in about two weeks, the Mariners are going to be seeing pitchers and catchers arrive for Spring Training.

Now, this year is a bit different because of the World Baseball Classic. That is going to be held from March 8th through March 21st this season, with the semis and final game taking place in Miami. That means that anyone who is going to be playing in the game will need to show up a bit earlier to Spring Training in Arizona.

The normal dates for Spring Training this year are February 16th for pitchers and catchers and then February 21st for everyone else. If anyone is playing in the WBC, they need to show up a bit earlier. For pitchers and catchers, that would be February 13th, with anyone else showing up on the 16th.

You may have seen other arrival dates out there, but it is important to remember that teams set their own arrival dates for Spring Training, and there isn't an industry standard for when players have to show up. Most teams do fall within the same short window of Feb 15th-16th for pitchers and catchers, so anyone who is interested in Non-Mariners can still expect to see them arrive in that window.

The Mariners play in the Cactus League, which means they play in Arizona for those who were unsure. Half the league plays there, with the other half taking off to Florida to play in the Grapefruit League.

We will have coverage of both Spring Training and the Mariners involved in the World Baseball Classic as it is going on, so make sure to check back for more updates, including ST schedules, position battles, players to watch, conversations around interesting players who got invites, and any other fun stories that pop up related to the Mariners and their 2023 Spring Training season.
