This was a Very Special Game

Fans at Safeco Field in Seattle were treated to one of the strangest games and wildest wins in club history. It is rare to see a comeback of the scale Mariners’ fans saw today. Seattle trailed by 5 runs on two separate occasions this afternoon, and yet pulled off a miracle comeback in the 9th inning.

This was an epic comeback by the Mariners, and we may well look back at April 19th as the turning point in the M’s season. A win like the one today has the ability to galvanize a clubhouse. Seattle has floundered over the first 11 games, but the momentum gained today could be huge. Seattle is only 3 games into an important 9 game home stand, and they have a chance to keep the good times rolling against the Houston Astros and Minnesota Twins next week.

The starting pitching is still a huge concern, but the Mariners’ offense has been encouraging to say the least. I think today’s win will spurn the M’s onward this week, and I expect them to win the next 4 series.
