3rd-10th Round Mariners Draft Picks:

3rd Round:

With the 80th pick in the 2014 First Year Player MLB Draft, the Mariners select…

Austin Cousino: CF, Kentucky. Bats Left, throws Left. Born April 17, 1993.

Notes on Cousino: Many consider Cousino to be the best outfield defender in college baseball this past season. In 2012 with the Kentucky Wildcats, Cousino won the SEC Freshman of the Year honors. Over the course of that summer, Cousino led the U.S. College National Team with a .351 batting average. Though his offensive tools have regressed in his sophomore and junior seasons, he still maintains a tremendous outfield defender profile.

4th Round:

With the 111th pick in the 2014 First Year Player MLB Draft, the Mariners select…

Ryan Yarbrough: LHP, Old Dominion. Bats Right, Throws Left. Born December 31, 1991.

Notes on Yarbrough: In three seasons of college baseball– one at Santa Fe Community College, two at Old Dominion– went 10-11 with a 4.26 ERA. He stands 6’5”, and was drafted last season in the 20th round by the Milwaukee Brewers.

5th Round:

With the 141st pick in the 2014 First Year Player MLB Draft, the Mariners select…

Dan Altavilla: RHP, Mercyhurst College (PA). Born September 8, 1992.

Notes on Altavilla: He has a low to mid 90s fastball with plenty on tailing movement, which induces many ground ball outs. His slider still needs time to develop, but could turn into a solid pitch for him in the future. He does have good movement on his changeup, though it’s not as deceptive as one would like it to be. At only 5’11”, he seems destined to become a reliever at the next level of professional baseball.

6th Round:

With the 171st pick in the 2014 First Year Player MLB Draft, the Mariners select…

Lane Ratliff: LHP, Jones County Community College.

7th Round:

With the 201st pick in the 2014 First Year Player MLB Draft, the Mariners select…

Taylor Byrd: LHP, Nicholls State (Louisiana).

8th Round:

With the 231st pick in the 2014 First Year Player MLB Draft, the Mariners select…

Kodi Kerski: Sacred Heart University (Connecticut).

9th Round:

With the 261st pick in the 2014 First Year Player MLB Draft, the Mariners select…

Peter Miller: RHP, Florida State.

10th Round:

With the 291st pick in the 2014 First Year Player MLB Draft, the Mariners select…

Adam Martin: Catcher, Western Carolina (NC).
