The Seattle Mariners kicked off a tough nine-game road trip with a three-game set in Cincinnati, before heading East to face a pair of AL east opponents in Toronto and Boston. A 5-3 record heading into the series finale against the Red Sox has Seattle set up to win all three series.
The offense has averaged 6.0 runs per game on the trip, while the pitching staff has surrendered 5.1 runs per game, with Wednesday's outing by Emerson Hancock marking a surprisingly rare start of at least six innings.
In Thursday's finale, Bryan Woo will look to send the Mariners home happy after his first ever start at Fenway Park. Here's a look at the probable pitchers and starting lineups, with first pitch for Fenway Park set for 10:35 a.m. PT.
Starting Pitchers
For the Mariners: Bryan Woo, RHP (2-1, 3.12 ERA)
Woo has emerged as possibly the most dominant of the Mariners’ pitchers in 2025, building upon a 2024 season wherein he posted a 2.89 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP over 22 starts. He has continued to demonstrate exceptional control and efficiency on the mound.
His arsenal features a pair of mid-90s fastballs that he relies on nearly 71 percent of the time, as well as a sharp slider and an effective changeup that have been useful in keeping hitters off balance. His reliance on the fastball contributes to a low walk rate and high strikeout totals. Notably, Woo’s ability to limit hard contact is evident in his opponents’ low barrel rate of 5.8 percent .

In his most recent outing, Woo pitched seven innings against the Blue Jays, allowing seven hits and striking out four batters on 97 pitches. This performance underscores what Mariners pitchers haven't been able to do this year: be efficient and work deep into the game. His growth and resilience, especially considering the injuries he navigated in 2024, have been impressive and Woo will have possibly his toughest test yet this season.
For the Red Sox: Garrett Crochet, LHP (2-1, 1.13 ERA)
Crochet has been a massive addition for the Red Sox in 2025, quickly establishing himself as one of the premier pitchers in baseball after a breakout 2024 season with the Chicago White Sox. Through his first five starts, the 25-year-old southpaw boasts a remarkable 1.13 ERA and has tallied 35 strikeouts.
Crochet’s arsenal, featuring a high-90s fastball and a sharp cutter, has made life for opposing hitters difficult. His ability to maintain velocity deep into games and his refined command have made him a nightmare opponent for any lineup. As the Mariners prepare to face him, they will need to bring their best approach at the plate to counteract his overpowering stuff. With both teams vying for position in their respective divisions, this matchup promises to be a pivotal and tightly contested affair.

What's at Stake?
This road trip has already been a success for the Mariners, but with a mini-homestand coming up against the Miami Marlins and Los Angeles (all of which should be winnable games), this is where the Mariners could get greedy.
Winning this game, especially against Crochet on a travel day, is a tough one for Seattle, but a 6-3 road trip against these opponents would be a massive win for a team that struggled out of the gates. This would also mark the first series win in Boston in over a decade.
