The Seattle Mariners began their current nine-game road trip with questions aplenty about their ability to succeed away from T-Mobile Park. A 4-2 run through Cincinnati and Toronto has changed that, and now the Mariners will look to close things out in style.

On Tuesday, they'll begin a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Seattle (12-10) and Boston (12-11) are right next to each other in the American League standings, and both are playing good baseball.

The M's have won nine out of 12, and their last 10 have seen the offense average 1.9 home runs and 6.1 runs per game. Nobody is hotter than Cal Raleigh, who co-leads the majors with nine homers.

The Red Sox have won five out of six in their own right, and are set to welcome back a key pitcher on Tuesday. Here's a look at the likely pitching matchup and lineups and how to tune in, with first pitch at Fenway Park scheduled for 3:45 p.m. PT.

Starting Pitchers

For the Mariners: Bryce Miller, RHP (1-3, 3.43 ERA)

Miller had issues in his first three starts of 2025, notably struggling with his velocity as he battled soreness in his right arm. But last Wednesday against the Reds, he managed to bounce back nicely.

The 26-year-old struck out eight over five scoreless innings, sitting at 95.4 mph with his fastball after working at 93.9 mph in his previous outing. He got four strikeouts on the fastball, doubling the number he had gotten on it in his first three outings combined.

Apart from the four-seamer, expect Miller to rely heavily on his sinker and knuckle-curve with the occasional splitter, slider and sweeper. And the more he can ramp up the velo, the better. The Red Sox have struggled against 95-plus heat so far in 2025.

For the Red Sox: Brayan Bello, RHP

After sitting for the first few weeks of the 2025 season with inflammation in his right shoulder, Bello is set to make his debut against the Mariners on Tuesday.

He posted a 7.07 ERA during a four-start rehab assignment, but that came with 21 strikeouts over 14 innings. He got up to 98.3 mph with his sinker. In addition to that pitch, Mariners hitters will have to be ready for a slider and changeup from Bello.

Bello typically struggles against left-handers, who have a .828 OPS against him for his career. That's a cue for Raleigh to do damage, though Jorge Polanco, Luke Raley, and Rowdy Tellez are welcome to join in as well.

What's at Stake?

For the Mariners, the goal is simple: stay hot.

Their 9-3 run has pushed them two games over .500 and to within a game of the Texas Rangers for the AL West lead. If they keep rolling in this series, there is a very good chance that they'll return to Seattle atop the division.

There is nonetheless a lingering sense that the Mariners offense has been a little too good of late. It's nice to see so many runs on the board, but they can't count on surprise contributors like Tellez and Dylan Moore forever. More than anything, what Seattle needs is for Rodríguez to go out there and have a breakout series. He's batting just .188 with a .675 OPS.

To this end, perhaps three chances to take aim at the Green Monster is just what J-Rod needs.
