Where are All of the Mariners' Players We Have Seen in 2024?

We have seen players come and go this season. The Mariners have promoted some, traded for others, allowed several to heal from injury, and let additional players go. Where are they now?

Many players have participated in Mariners' games so far this season. Some are on the Twenty-Six Player List. Others are on the 40 Player List with spots on AAA Tacoma. The Mariners have optioned two to Tacoma. The Injured List has a few players. Others have left the team after a brief visit or promotion. Let's check through everyone who has been on the team to see where they are at now.

Starting and Relief Pitchers

  • LHP Jhonathan Diaz (40-man roster, AAA Tacoma) started one game last week.
  • RHP Emerson Hancock (40-man roster, AAA Tacoma) started eight games in 2023, taking Bryan Woo’s place in the rotation earlier in the season and this past week.
  • RHP Brett de Geus (40-man roster, AAA Tacoma) pitched in four games
  • RHP Collin Snider (40-man roster, AAA Tacoma) pitched in five games for Seattle.
  • RHP Carlos Vargas (40-man roster, AAA Tacoma) has not pitched for the Mariners yet.

Position Players

  • INF Leo Rivas (40-man roster, AAA Tacoma) played in six games with two hits.
  • OF Jonatan Clase (40-man roster, AAA Tacoma) played in 15 games with six hits.

Players on the Injured List

Injuries are a plague for MLB players. The Mariners miss these players. Those on the 60-day IL are unofficially on the 40-Man roster.

  • RHP Matt Brash (IL-60) Our lightning-fast reliever had Tommy John surgery and is out for the 2024 season.
  • OF Sam Haggerty (IL-60) tore his right Achilles tendon. He had surgery and is out for the rest of the season.
  • RHP Jackson Kowar (IL-60) is out for the rest of the season due to Tommy John surgery.
  • RHP Gregory Santos (IL-60) will hopefully return early in July from the right lat strain.
  • LHP Gabe Speier (IL-15) will likely not return until the All-Star break, healing from a left rotator cuff strain.
  • 1B Ty France should return in a few days from his heel fracture.
  • 2B Jorge Polanco should be back soon after a strain to his right hamstring

Players No Longer with Seattle

  • RHP Tyson Miller pitched in nine games for Seattle. Seattle designated him for assignment and later traded him to the Cubs for SS Jake Slaughter and cash.
  • RHP Matt Bowman pitched in one game. Seattle designated him for assignment.

New Players Since the Offseason

RHP Mike Bauman is 28 and grew up in Minnesota. He attended Jacksonville University in Florida with BAL Austin Hays. Bauman was named Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-Conference among other honors.

He came up in the Orioles system, playing with A Aberdeen, Class A Delmarva, and Class A-Advanced Frederic. In 2018, he struck out 106 batters. He moved on to AA Bowie and threw a no-hitter in 2019. He progressed to Triple-A Norfolk in 2021 and made his MLB debut on September 7, 2021 in relief. He was on the Opening Day Roster for Baltimore (in 2022 and 2023) and became part of the starting rotation. He married his wife, Nicole, this past December.

Victor Robles is 27 years old and a native of the Dominican Republic. As Robles came up with the Nationals, he tied for ninth in the minor leagues for 37 stolen bases in 2016. His 2017 batting average was .300. He began 2018 with AAA Syracuse, and hyperextended his left elbow. He was out for two months. He debuted on September 4, 2018, and played in 12 major league starts.

In 2019, he played a full season in the big leagues and finished sixth in National League Rookie of the Year voting. In 2021, he made his first leadoff home run.  In 2022, Victor was a finalist for the Rawlings Gold Glove award. Robles suffered a back injury during his fantastic season in 2023. He and his wife Kirsy have one son, Victor, Jr.
