While fans of the Seattle Mariners have been primarily focused lately on the changes to the Mariners' roster this offseason, there are a lot of fans that want to see what the future holds for the franchise by following their prospects closely. Sure, Seattle made some interesting moves to beef up the offense a bit and to clean up their payroll, but thinking about what this team will look like over the next couple of years is a fascinating thought exercise for many.

Normally, that would involve a lot of waiting. Sure, the Mariners have a couple of "prospects" that will see significant time in the big leagues this year, but fans will largely have to wait until the beginning of the minor league season to see the top names in action -- or even the Futures Game, if they don't have access to MiLB TV.

However, MLB created the Spring Breakout series this year to allow fans to watch exhibition games between the best of the best prospects from each organization in a battle royale that will take place in the middle of March. The best part? You can watch the Mariners' Spring Breakout game for free right here at SoDo Mojo.

MLB Spring Breakout: What to expect from Mariners vs. Padres

The general idea of the Spring Breakout series is simple. Each team was asked to create a roster for the game out of their prospects with a particular emphasis on Top 30 prospects. Seattle announced their roster, which includes a host of top 30 names, including the entire top 10. Fans will not have to wait long to see Cole Young, Colt Emerson, Harry Ford, and more take on the best prospect team the Padres can muster. One note: the rules for these games have been modified a bit, including limiting each game to seven innings and utilizing the automated strike zone, but that is neither here nor there.

The Mariners drew San Diego as their opponents for the Spring Breakout and that game will take place on Friday, March 15 at 4:10 PM EST/1:10 PM PST. Due to a partnership with the wonderful folks over at STN, Mariners fans will be able to watch the game right on this page for free. Make sure you bookmark this page, and once we get closer to the actual date of the game, a video player will be embedded where readers can enjoy the game free of charge.
