The Mariners will look to get the offense going much earlier in today's rubber match after seeing a perfect game against them through the first six innings of yesterday's matchup. Julio Rodriguez provided the only offense, taking Mason Miller deep in the 9th, but the Athletics still won 2-1. The Mariners have been scoring five runs a game since they let go Brant Brown, and will look to see the offense heat back up in the midday California sun.

Starting pitchers for tonight's game

  • The Mariners will be throwing Bryan Woo (2-0, 1.30 ERA) in the rubber match today. He's been on fire since coming off the injured list, throwing the best ball of his career, and doing so with brutal efficiency. He's thrown just 213 pitches in the last 18 innings (3 starts), averaging 11.8 per inning, WAY below league average. This will be his 4th start against the Athletics, and he will look to continue his streak as he hasn't given up a run to them through 15.1 innings.
  • For the Athletics, they'll be throwing JP Sears (4-4, 4.01 ERA). He's had an every other thing going lately, giving up 4-0-4-1-4-0-7 earned runs across his last seven starts, and the Mariners will look to break that pattern, as he is "due" for a good start. This will be his 7th outing and 6th start against the Mariners, and he's been dominant with a 1.65 ERA through 32.2 innings.
