After a dominant start by George Kirby, the Mariners currently sit at 35-27 with a 5.5 game lead on the Texas Rangers for the American League West title. The Mariners have now won four straight and seven of their last eight (all against division opponents). The offense looked a lot more comfortable stringing together 10 hits, and only striking out seven times. The Mariners will look to secure another series victory with Logan Gilbert on the mound in what is a huge pitching advantage for the Ms. Gilbert will look to get deep into the game after Servais used five different relievers and concerns were raised about Andres Munoz's back.

Starting pitchers for tonight's game

  • RHP Logan Gilbert (3-3, 3.29 ERA) continues to show that he is one of the better pitchers in baseball and arguably the best number three in the game. Gilbert dominated through April and his first start of May but has since struggled (5.96 ERA over his last five starts). This seems like a prime bounce-back opportunity, but Gilbert will have to be careful as the A's offense has been a surprisingly decent one.
  • RHP Joey Estes (1-1, 6.10 ERA) will counter for the Oakland Athletics. Estes was solid in the minor leagues but hasn't been able to translate that to Major League success, with a career ERA of 6.46 overshadowing his solid 7.9 K/9 and 2.3 BB/9. He has been hit hard and has been prone to the long ball, giving up over 2 home runs per nine innings. The Mariners will need to jump on Estes early as he has been up and down. This is a great chance for the offense to continue to improve and continue their recent successes.
