Seattle Mariners vs. LA Angels, probable pitchers and starting lineups, July 23
The Mariners host the Angels in game two as Logan Gilbert gets his first post game All-Star start to hopefully get the Mariners back on the winning path
After last night's painful game, a new lineup emerges. Locklear replaces Ty France (DFA'd) at 1B; Vosler replaces Mitch Garver at DH; Moore replaces Crawford (IL) at SS; and Marlowe replaces Haniger at RF. Robles is also replacing J. Rodriguez (IL) at CF.
Probable pitchers for today's game between the Mariners and Angels
All-Star RHP Logan Gilbert will be on the mound for the Seattle Mariners. Gilbert pitched on Sunday, July 14 in Anaheim, went to the All-Star game, had two days off, and is ready to pitch again against the Angels at T-Mobile Park. (The Mariners' decision to use Woo rather than Gilbert in the third game against the Astros surprised some fans.) In his previous start against the Padres, Gilbert pitched into the eighth inning, struck out seven, and allowed three runs. On the 14th, Gilbert threw seven innings, allowed no runs, and struck out nine batters. Gilbert is rested and hot!
RHP José Soriano will also pitch back-to-back games against Seattle since he threw to the Mariners in Anaheim. On July 13, Soriano pitched six innings, allowed one run, and struck five players out. His previous outing occurred against the Cubs at Wrigley Field on July 7. Soriano pitched five innings, allowed three runs, and struck three batters out. In a touch of irony, Ty France has been the Mariners' most successful batter against Soriano with a .500 average.
