Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros probable pitchers and starting lineups, July 21st
The Mariners take on the Astros in final game of a three-game series, hoping to salvage a game, and move back into a tie with Houston atop the AL West.
The Mariners are looking to salvage a game in this three-game series, after dropping two close games with Houston. Seattle is still looking for an offensive breakthrough after experiencing a tough month offensively. To win today, the Mariners must find an offensive spark against Astros' starting pitcher Ronel Blanco. Also, Bryan Woo the M's starting pitcher, must find his rhythm again and quiet a tough Astros lineup. Here are today's starting lineups and probable pitchers:
Probable pitchers for today's game between the Mariners and Astros
Bryan Woo is hoping for a better outing after struggling in his first start back off the IL in Anaheim on July 12th. Allowing four runs on nine hits, in 3.2 IP, against the Angels. He has bounced back from several frustrating injuries and put together a solid year overall. Posting a 2.45 ERA and (3-1) record, with 29 K in 44 innings. Woo is looking for his first win since June 6th against the Oakland A's.
Ronel Blanco has been arguably the Astros' best pitcher this season. With a 2.56 ERA, 100 K, and (9-4) record in 18 starts this season. The Mariners did find success against Blanco back in May, scoring three runs off him on five hits, tagging Blanco for two home runs. The Mariners will need to take advantage of Blanco's struggles at times with command (he has issued 44 walks this year), as they did yesterday against Framber Valdez, to be successful against Blanco.

Game notes
- Mariners are trying to avoid being swept by the Astros, they have yet to suffer a sweep this season, and are one of just two teams in MLB (the Guardians being the other) to have not been swept this year.
- Julio Rodriguez hit his 11th home run of the season last night and has been hot the last 12 games hitting (.459), with 8 runs, 3 doubles, 4 home runs, and 8 RBIs.
- Victor Robles has been making the most of his opportunities to start recently. Since joining the Mariners on June 4th, Robles is batting .378 with 5 runs, 4 doubles, 1 home run, 3 RBIs, is 6-for-6 in stolen bases, and a 1.033 OPS in 24 games.
- The Mariners started the season with a winning record in each of the first three months of the season (the fifth time they accomplished that feat in franchise history). Seattle is trying to make it four consecutive winning months (currently 5-9 in July) with 10 games left in the month. Six of which against the Angels and White Sox who have losing records.
