Seattle Mariners probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Oakland Athletics, June 4
The Seattle Mariners start a six game road trip to Oakland for three games and then to Kanas City for three more. They head into the Oakland series fresh off a sweep of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and a 6-1 homestand.
Mariner's offense looks to keep it rolling as they scored 19 runs in the sweep of the Angels. In a small sample size since they relieved Brant Brown of his duties the Mariners have averaged more than six runs per game, more than four walks per game, and six strikeouts per game. On the year the Mariners' offense has been walking roughly three times per game and striking out 10 times per game. So these numbers are an encouraging sign. Can they keep it going against the Athletics?
On Monday Jonatan Clase was sent down to Tacoma and the Mariners signed Victor Robles to play OF and come off the bench. Robles is a former top prospect for the Washington Nationals and brings speed, defense, and an ability to hit left-handed pitchers. In a corresponding move to make room on the 40-man roster Luis Urias cleared waivers and was outrighted to Tacoma.
Probable starting pitchers
- George Kirby looks to keep it rolling against the Oakland Athletics as Kirby is coming off a six inning, giving up one run and striking out eight Astro hitters. Kirby will look to get his ERA under four and help the Mariners win four in a row.
- Mitch Spence makes his fourth start for the Athletics and brings a 3.52 ERA, 1.148 WHIP, 34 strikeouts. So far Spence's season has been good enough for a .7 WAR season and a ERA+ of 111. Spence has been an above average pitcher for the Athletics. The Mariners will have their work cut out for them tonight.
