It still feels wierd to say it, but there Mariners are coming off of a series win against the Houston Astros and are following it up with a series against the division leading Texas Rangers. I don't know that many would've expected to say both of those things at this point in the season, but I'll take it. Ther Mariners are now 17-17, 3.5 games back of Texas, and will look to continue their hot streak as they have won six of their last seven games. Let's check out what to expect in the series opener.

Mariners vs Rangers: Probable Starting Pitchers

For the Mariners, they will be throwing Logan Gilbert to open up the series. He looked better against Oakland after struggling a bit against Milwaukee and Philadelphia. He is going to have his hands full with a dangerous Texas lineup, and will need to show more of 2022 Logan Gilbert than he has in the starts vs the Brewers and Phillies, where he gave up a combined 8 runs and 12 hits across 11 innings.

For the Rangers, Jon Gray takes the mound. He's been roughed up a bit lately as well. Over his last three starts, he has thrown 16.2 innings, giving up 18 hits, walking 8, striking out just 6, and allowing 10 earned runs. Just two Ks sounds wonderful, and that sounds like a perfect opportunity for Teoscar to knock around Jon Gray.

Seattle Mariners Starting Lineup

This is a good looking lineup. Don't really have any qualms about it, and it's about the best they can put togehter with the current health status of the team.

Can the "Big Three" Get a series win for the Mariners?

The Mariners have been able to miss some of the big-name pitchers from their opponents recently, and that continues with the Rangers as the Mariners will not have to see DeGrom. On their side, the Mariners get to throw their three best pitchers, and we will see Kirby, Gilbert, and Castillo all take the mound. It's a big opportunity, and played out right, to throw those three against the division leading Rangers. It's a prime spot for a series win, and one the Mariners can definitely take advantage of.
