Coming off of a winning homestand, the Mariners will now start one of the toughest road trips of of the entire season. They will play a 3-game series against the Orioles, then a 4-game series in the Bronx, and finish with a 3-game series against the Nationls. The Mariners come into tonight with a record of 24-20, 1.5 games ahead of the Texas Rangers and solely in FIrst Place of the American League West.

As for the Orioles, they come into tonioght with a record of 27-14, and they are second in the A.L. East, one game beind the New York Yankees. Baltimore won its last game yesterday, thanks to a walk-off homerun from catcher Adley Rutschman. Speaking of Rutschman, since he made his Major League debut in 2022, the Orioles has NEVER been swept in a three or four game regular season series. THat is 105 series in a row without being swept. Let's see if the Mariners can come into Baltimore and end that streak. If they do, it will start with a win today.

Mariners vs. Orioles probable pitchers

  • The Mariners will give the ball to young right-hander Bryce Miller. Miller (3-2, 2.66 ERA) took the loss in his last outing against the Oakland Athletics. He pitched well enough to win, as he went six innings and gave up just two runs. He took the loss, but earned a quality start. He struck out nine and walked two. This will be start number nine of the season for Miller, and this maybe the most important start of the season for Miller so far.
  • As for the Orioles, they will turn to veteran lefty John Means (1-0, 3.09 ERA). You may remember Means from that fateful start on May 5th, 2021, where he threw a No-Hitter in Seattle against the Mariners. Means has had an up and down career, and has dealt with a lot of injuries in his career. He has pitched in just eight games since the end of 2021, and today will be his third start of 2024. Let's hope the Mariners are able to get to Means early, and get this tough lefty out of the game.
