Best Moment: Julio and Cal combine for three RBI in the tenth inning
While trying to protect a two run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning, Mike Baumann quickly notched two strikeouts and for a moment, it seemed like Seattle would head home with a 3-1 victory. Unfortunately, he ended up giving up a double and a subsequent game-tying two-run home run to MJ Melendez, sending the game to extra innings.
Under the pressure of a potential series sweep, Julio Rodríguez singled to send Josh Rojas home, giving the Mariners a 4-3 lead.
After a Mitch Garver walk loaded the bases, Cal Raleigh came up with a clutch single to score Dylan Moore and Julio, giving Seattle a 6-3 lead.
This would be just enough to scrape by with the win as Kansas City would score two runs of their own in the bottom of the tenth before Tayler Saucedo would shut the doors and get Vinnie Pasquantino to ground out and end the game.
The Mariners will now head to Chicago to play the White Sox in a four-game series, a great opportunity to potentially extend their lead in the AL West even further. With a record of 37-30, they are currently 5.0 games ahead of the Texas Rangers and 6.5 games ahead of the Houston Astros.
