After a disappointing set against the Tigers, Seattle turned up the gas with an outstanding sweep against the Mets, their first three-game sweep at home since the Rangers came to town on June 14th. The team was firing on all pistons, outscoring New York 22-1.

Best Hitter: Cal Raleigh

13 PA, .364/.462/.909, 4 H, 2 HR, 2 R, 7 RBI, 2 BB, 3 K

Raleigh got off to a slow start in the series, going 1-for-7 in the first two games. In the final game, he had three hits and accumulated nine total bases for five RBI and no strikeouts. His two home runs were integral to putting the nail in the coffin for the Mariners, his final bomb putting the team up 10-1.

Sure, he leads the AL in strikeouts with 134 but he's also hit 26 home runs this year, just four fewer than his career-high mark of 30 last year. He has also managed to bring his OPS+ up to 119, still the highest mark of any qualified player on the team.

Honorable Mention: Randy Arozarena

13 PA, .375/.615/.500, 3 H, 1 2B, 3 R, 3 RBI, 4 BB, 2 K, 1 HBP

Arozarena was an on-base machine. Things got somewhat touchy in the final game after being hit in the elbow by reliever Phil Maton but since it would be his eighth time on base, the Mets were understandably frustrated. Furthermore, he made an outstanding defensive play in the outfield just a few innings prior to pile on.

Best Pitcher: Logan Gilbert

7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

In his second start since a horrid outing in Boston, Gilbert had a great showing 92-pitch showing against a clearly outmatched Mets lineup. He had 15 whiffs, seven of which were against his slider. Of his 12 called strikes, six of which were from his four-seam fastball. He also threw a few cutters, the newest weapon in his already prolific arsenal.

Honorable Mention: Luis Castillo

6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 9 K

While somewhat outdone by the offense, Castillo had a great showing in a Luis vs. Luis duel. He accumulated 11 total swings and misses, six of which against his four-seam fastball. He also had a whopping 21 called strikes, 11 from his four-seam fastball. Although his sinker had just two whiffs and six called strikes, it was looking equally as potent.

Best Moment: Troy Taylor makes his major league debut

Prior to the second game of the series, Seattle called up Troy Taylor from the Arkansas Travelers in Double-A to replace Eduard Bazardo who was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma. Taylor is the 23rd ranked prospect in the team's system and has served as a closer for the Travelers, racking up 16 saves along with a 1.17 ERA in 30.2 innings.

Despite the big jump in competition, Taylor performed admirably. In front of his excited family, he pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out Luis Torrens and Tyrone Taylor to secure the win for his team.

His sinker got up to 98 mph while his slider sat around the 85 mph mark. He's yet another great pitching talent in the Mariners' pipeline and this outing was hopefully the first of many scoreless appearances for him.
