Best Pitcher: George Kirby

7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 12 K

After two bad outings in a row, Kirby seems to have locked in for the last two starts against Colorado and Arizona. While he only pitched five innings against the Rockies, he seemed to be at full strength once more against the Diamondbacks, taking no prisoners and amassing an incomprehensible 23 swings and misses on the way to striking out 12. 15 of said swings and misses were on his four-seam fastball which got up to 99.3 mph. On the other side of things, his slider earned nine called strikes.

After his fourth start against the Reds in which he gave up two earned runs in six innings, his 2024 ERA stood at 6.64. After twelve more scoreless innings, his ERA is down to 4.18. It's still a little higher than most are used to but with this performance, he put the rest of MLB back on notice.

Honorable Mention: Logan Gilbert

6.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K

While not quite as spotless as Kirby, Gilbert had a strong strikeout showing of his own in the final game of the series. He collected 16 swings and misses, split pretty evenly across his cutter, slider, and four-seam fastball. He continues to love living at the top of the zone with his heater and going down and away with the splitter.

Other than his two earned runs, he was a dominant force on the mound. His season ERA and WHIP are still excellent at 2.03 and 0.80.
