The Mariners are on quite the streak right now. The Mariners won last night's game on another walk-off hit, their now second in a row. Chaos Ball is once again in full effect, and now the Mariners have a chance to complete a four-game sweep against the struggling Chicago White Sox. Clutch hitting, and overpowering pitching have been the keys to victory in this series for the Mariners. Playing against a historically bad team doesn't hurt, either.

The Mariners are now 40-30, 6.5 games ahead of the second-place Texas Rangers, and 8.5 games ahead of those pesky Houston Astros. At this point of the season, banking wins is the most important thing the Mariners can do. Eventually, this team will go through a tough stretch like they did early in the season, and we can't expect the Astros and Rangers to still have losing records come September. Maybe they will, but I wouldn't bet on that.

Probable pitchers for tonight's game, June 13

  • The Mariners will now hand the ball to Emerson Hancock. Luis Castillo was supposed to take the hill for the Mariners tonight, but the Mariners will instead opt to push him, Logan GIlbert, and George Kirby back to face the second-place Texas Rangers. Hancock (3-3, 5.24 ERA) has had quite the run while in Tacoma. In his five starts down in Tacoma, he has a record of 2-1 with a 2.17 ERA. Let's hope for more of the success he found in Tacoma tonight, instead of the inconsistency he had to start the year.
  • As for the White Sox, the Southsiders will have Garrett Crochet (6-5, 3.33 ERA) start tonight's game. Crochet started his Major League career as a reliever and is now a starting pitcher. Tonight will be his 15th start, and he is turning heads. His 3.33 ERA is high comared to his 2.77 FIP. This lefty has been tough this year. He has double-digit strikeouts in two of his last three games and currently leads all of baseball in strikeouts (103) and strikeouts per 9 innings (12.3). The Mariners still struggle with strikeouts, so this will be a tough matchup for them.
