Mariners probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Baltimore Orioles, July 3
Will the Mariners offense turn it around today against the surging Orioles?
I know I am not breaking any news here, but the Mariners' offensive woes are reaching new lows. Julio Rodriguez was moved down to the 7 spot in the lineup yesterday in hopes of igniting the struggling superstar, but the Mariners instead mustered just two hits... both from Josh Rojas. The Mariners did lose game one of this series 2-0, but they still have a chance to win the series with a win tonight.
Starting pitchers for tonight's game
- The Mariners will hand the ball to Logan Gilbert. Gilbert (5-4, 2.72 ERA) will be making his 18th start of the season. Logan is making a push to earn his first All-Star appearance this year, and he absolutely deserves a spot on the roster. Logan is putting together a career year, and even leads the league in WHIP (0.88). Over his last five starts, Logan is 2-1 with a 1.21 ERA and struck out 28 over his 29.1 innings of work. He walked only one batter over that span. If the Mariners win tonight, look for GIlbert to be the key reason.
- As for the Orioles, they will turn to Dean Kremer to start tonight's game. Kremer (3-4, 4.32 ERA) will be making just his 10th start of the 2024 season. He has been a bit inconsistant so far this year, and has struggled as of late. Over his last two starts, Kremer is 0-2 with a 7.45 ERA (8 earned runs over 9.2 innings), walked 7 and struck out 12. He can be wild at times, and has given up five home runs over his last five starts. Look for the Mariners to take him deep at least once tonight.
