Three players, including former Mariners' third baseman Adrian Beltre, are going to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday. The other HOF inductees were Rockies' first baseman Todd Helton, Twins' catcher Joe Mauer, and manager Jim Leyland who managed the Pirates, Marlins, Rockies, and Tigers ball clubs.

When asked about Adrian Beltre going into the hall of fame at his presser today, Scott Servais said, even though he did not coach Beltre in Seattle, he knew him from his time in the Texas Rangers front office. Servais said he will always remember Beltre hitting three home runs in a single game during the Rangers World Series run in 2011. Beltre played 21 seasons in his career, five of them with the Mariners, finishing with 477 career home runs, 3166 hits, and 1707 RBIs.

In talking about the other players inducted into the HOF, Servais had nice things to say about Joe Mauer and Todd Helton. When talking about Joe Mauer, Servais discussed how the Twins could have selected then phenom Mark Prior who became the Paul Skenes of his era at the time, but made the right choice in selecting catcher Joe Mauer. Mauer would have a successful career in Minnesota, hitting .306, with 181 caught stealing throws, and six All-Star game appearances.

Of Todd Helton, Servais spoke of how great a hitter Helton was regardless of the fact he played most of his career in Coors Field. Todd Helton played his entire big-league career for the Colorado Rockies. Finishing his career with a .316 batting average, 369 HR, 1406 RBIs, and 2519 career hits.

When speaking about manager Jim Leyland, Servais talked about facing the Pittsburgh Pirates back in the 90s as a player for the Cubs. Talking about the good teams Leyland coached in Pittsburgh that were led by star outfielder Barry Bonds. The one thing Scott Servais says he learned from Leyland was the importance of talking to each of his players before games. Particularly, going to the outfield to talk with his relievers to ask about how they were doing and how they felt prior to each game.
