UPDATE: This story has been updated as of 08/26/2024, and we will continue to update as more information comes out.

Since leaving his last start, there was a worry that Mariners pitching prospect Teddy McGraw was facing an injury. While we don't know exactly what the injury is, it seems like bad news could be on the way as it was reported this afternoon that McGraw is heading to Dr. Keith Meister due to concerns about tightness in his arm that caused him to leave that start. Meister is highly-regarded in the world of Tommy John surgeries and is actually the Head Team Physician for the Texas Rangers and is the Director of TMI Sports Medicine.

The Mariners 2023 third-round draft pick, Teddy McGraw, has always had the oft-injured but extremely talented label. He's undergone two Tommy John surgeries in a four-year span, with the latest coming during his time at Wake Forest. However, the time sandwiched between the two procedures swayed the Mariners to take a chance on the right-hander.

McGraw has always flashed late-life on his mid-to high-90s heater, which allows the 22-year-old to live in the upper part of the zone. Does this sound familiar? It should because that is how all five starters in Seattle attack opposing batters. McGraw has ratcheted his fastball up to triple digits this season while displaying advanced offspeed pitches, mainly the slider, profiles as plus-plus, and the changeup firmly sits in the above-average territory.

After finally starting his professional career with the Modesto Nuts nearly six weeks ago, McGraw is back on the shelf. According to Mariner Minors, he was removed from a game last night after only throwing two dominant innings. After throwing a slider in the third inning against San Jose, McGraw signaled the catcher, and after a brief discussion with manager Zach Vincej and team trainers, he headed to the locker room. It's a disappointing development based on the part he could play in the next wave of great Mariner arms, especially since there seemed to be a void between the lower levels of the farm and the big-league club.

In four California League starts, Teddy McGraw has pitched 8 2/3 innings while striking out nine and accumulating a 4.15 ERA. The counting stats don't jump off the page, but in this case, it is all about the stuff. There isn't any news on the uber-talented pitcher's injury, but we'll update you on the Mariners' 14th-rated prospect's status when more information is available.
