The Seattle Mariners are looking to take the third game of their series with the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday night, and they’ll send Logan Gilbert to the mound in this matchup.

He will take on Aaron Civale, who did not finish the 2022 season strong, getting lit up by the New York Yankees in the postseason. Civale posted a 4.92 ERA overall last season.

Seattle has the pitching edge in this game, but it is just a slight favorite at home.

Let's break down the odds and best bet for this game:

Guardians vs. Mariners odds, run line and total

Guardians vs. Mariners prediction and pick

I’m not sold on Civale having a bounce-back season after getting knocked around for a good chunk of the 2022 campaign. He did have a better Fielding Independent Pitching than ERA, but I still think Gilbert has the edge in this pitching matchup.

Gilbert had one start against Cleveland last season, tossing 6.1 innings of two-run ball.

He closed the season strong, allowing just eight total earned runs in six September starts.

Seattle is one of the teams that I think can take a real step forward this season after getting into the postseason in the 2022 campaign. A big reason why is the team’s rotation, and I think the Mariners are in line for a bounce-back game after losing on Friday night.

With Civale on the bump, I think Seattle can get up early and ride its strong bullpen to a win.
