Getting to know the Mariners 2023 Draft Class
Amid the games and activities of the All-Star extravaganza, the Mariners drafted 22 high school and college players out of the total of 614 players available. With a plethora of selections, the Mariners filled out the squad not just across the diamond, but with a group that spans ages 17-23 from all over the country. Let's get to know them a little better.
Baseball Stats
The team selected players for the following positions:
- 3 infielders
- 5 outfielders
- 1 third baseman
- 2 shortstops
- 1 catcher
- 9 right-handed pitchers
- 1 left-handed pitcher
In the group of position players, six bat left and six bat right and one is a switch hitter.
Personal Stats
Age: Two were born in 2005, two in 2004, two in 2002, seven in 2001, and nine in 2000.
Height: Four players are 6'4" and three players are right under six feet. The others are in the middle.
Weight: The players' weight ranges from 170 to 256 lbs.
Places Where the Players Grew Up: Three are from New England, four are from California, three are from the Midwest. and twelve come from southern states, most commonly Virginia, (The US Census Bureau counts 17 states as southern states. and Missouri as a midwest/southern state.)
