Talking about injuries is never fun, especially when they come out of nowhere. Part of being a professional athlete is dealing with that, and Bryan Woo was gracious enough to sit down in front of the media to talk about it in today's pregame. Set aside some time to listen, and Woo made himself available for this nearly six-minute clip.

This is a new injury for Bryan Woo, as he mentioned that it wasn't something that he had ever dealt with before. That it happened at the beginning of the inning, and he just wasn't able to push off or throw any pitches with the injury after feeling that something was wrong.

Bryan Woo had a press conference to talk about his hamstring injury

It was disheartening not just to listen to, but in watching Woo speak. You could see that it was an emotional interview and that he was fighting through his feelings of disappointment in talking about it. Woo came out throwing harder than he had all year, touching 97 mph in the outing, and it was positive in his mind as he felt his velocity had been picking up as of late.

He did mention that it is feeling better than it did when it happened, which definitely isn't always the case with leg injuries, and is a glimmer of good news for a possible long-term injury that looks now to be not too terrible. He's planning on being cautious and easing his way back in to make sure that he can get back to health while dealing with, as mentioned before, an injury that he has never had before.

Let's hope that Woo isn't out too long and that he only misses a handful of starts before being able to make it back to the Mariners rotation. With the trade deadline getting closer and closer and the Mariners having dealt away one of their potential short-term replacements, the Mariners need innings more now than they have at any point in the season. Best of luck with a quick and healthy recovery to Bryan Woo.
