Mariners fans are fed up with Chris Flexen

Oh, I want to be a Flexen fan, I really do. He did so good for this team in 2021 and 2022, holding down a spot in the rotation in old school fashion. He wasn't striking guys out, and he wasn't going to dominate. However, you were going to get 5/6 innings and 2/3 ER every single time out, and he was consistent about it.

2023 has been totally different. I don't think it stems back to late-2022 when they moved him to the bullpen, either. He did great there, so i think this has to be something else. Maybe it's a holdover from it, and he just wasn't in the right place for it in 2023. The move back to a starter destroyed him, and made a lot of fans sour on him. You could ask plenty of fans, and they might not even know where he is.

The answer to that is the same as it was to start the season. In the bullpen. Oddly enough, after getting shelled in three straight starts (18 ER in 12.1 IP) he has gone scoreless in four appearances across 7 innings, allowing just six hits and one walk. I think this is the one that fans need to think about again, as Flexen can be a nice change of pace in the Mariners bullpen, and help out anytime a starter has to leave a game early.
