Awful Announcing's latest MLB broadcast rankings placed the Seattle Mariners' broadcast team at 14th in the league. While it is not the worst ranking in the league, it definitely leaves some room for improvement for the team at Root Sports.

Aaron Goldsmith, Angie Mentink, Rick Rizzs, Brad Adam, Jay Buhner, Ryan Rowland-Smith and Dave Valle have been a solid team so far in 2025, but it is probably taking fans a while to get used to the lack of Dave Sims and Mike Blowers.

The duo of Sims and Blowers was iconic during their time in Seattle. While Sims certainly had his weaknesses, such as his over-excitement of deep fly ball outs, he was well beloved in Seattle. Some of his most iconic moments include his call of Logan Morrison's game-tying double in 2014 and Mitch Haniger's game-winning single in 2021. Both hits kept the Mariners' postseason hopes alive going into Game 162 of the respective seasons, with both coming at home against the Angels.

Dave Sims' exit has left the Mariners with a middle-of-the-pack broadcast

Some fans left comments under Awful Announcing's poll expressing their disappointment in the loss of Sims.

"Man, they miss Dave Sims," wrote one fan.

"Sims departure is taking a toll on fans," wrote another.

Yet Goldsmith, who is in his first season as the team's primary play-by-play announcer, has been winning over other fans. As one fan put it: "One of the most underrated broadcasters in any sport."

Ultimately, 86.1 percent of fans gave the Mariners an A, B, or C. Their most common grade was a C, which they received from 43.1 percent of fans. They received 83 Ds and 41 Fs among 895 voters.

While the team did slip from their 11th place ranking in 2024 and their eighth place ranking in 2023, the Mariners at least stayed afloat in the top-15. All things considered, it's a good score for a group of mostly new broadcasters. Mentink and Rowland-Smith, who have done most of the color commentary this season, appear to be winning over the fanbase.

It might take a few years to get used to the lack of Sims, but over time, this new-look Mariners broadcast crew should be able to earn the respect and love of the fanbase.
