Ever since the news that Ichiro Suzuki was voted into the Hall of Fame dropped, Seattle Mariners fans have been in a state of celebration. Sure, the current club has done very little this offseason to provide hope that the Mariners will get over the hump in 2025, but it sure is fun to think about all of the good times Ichiro gave us as well as to try and figure out which doofus left him off their ballot.

It is fair to say that Seattle is taking full advantage of the fervor that Ichiro's impending induction into Cooperstown has brought. It helps that he was a mortal lock to get in on the first ballot so they could plan ahead, but the Mariners are pulling out all the stops to celebrate his achievement.

Mariners' promotion schedule ahead of Ichiro's Hall of Fame induction and number retirement is absolutely wild

We'll start with the obvious headliner that everyone expected. On Aug. 9, 2025, the Mariners will retire Ichiro's number 51 in a ceremony that will be mandatory viewing for Seattle fans. Ichiro was noticeably choked up when this news was revealed during a press conference and understandably so.

That whole week is going to be loaded with Ichiro goodies for Mariners fans. There will be a three-game stretch where the first 10,000 fans will be able to get an Ichiro Funko which almost certainly will become a lucrative collector's item as soon as the promotion is over. After that will be a replica Ichiro jersey night on Aug. 8 for the first 20,000 fans, which will be a nod to Ichiro breaking the single-season hits record back in 2004. Then we have the number retirement ceremony followed by another promotion the next day where the first 20,000 fans will get replica Ichiro Hall of Fame plaques.

One hopes that the Mariners provide more reasons to celebrate in 2025. However, even if they don't and fans' worst fears are realized after a disappointing offseason, they will at least have loads of Ichiro swag in August to look forward to.
