Mariners fans can credit Josh Naylor for amazing Seahawks Super Bowl moment

Seattle was well represented on the field at Super Bowl LX on Sunday, as the Seahawks smoked the New England Patriots even more than the 29-13 final score let on. And there to see it were a few of Seattle's finest celebrities.

With all respect to Andy Dwyer and Star-Lord, we're not talking about actor Chris Pratt. We're not talking about comedian Adam Ray either, though we will thank him for passing along a picture of himself with not one, not two, not three, but four members of the Mariners at Levi's Stadium:

That's Ray in the middle flanked, from left to right, by Cal Raleigh, Bryan Woo, Josh Naylor and George Kirby. That's a decent chunk of the Mariners' collective stardom, and whatever energy they brought with them to Santa Clara obviously didn't jinx Sam Darnold and company.

It's no surprise that Raleigh and Woo were there. "Big Dumper" has been pretty much everywhere in repping Seattle and the Mariners throughout the winter. Woo, meanwhile, is an Oakland native whose parents still live in the Bay Area.

Go figure, though, that it's the Canadian guy who may be responsible for organizing this Seattle-themed American Football party.

Josh Naylor continues to go all-in on Seattle in cheering on Seahawks at Super Bowl

Naylor is a relative newcomer to Seattle, only having joined the Mariners last July. Yet it was clear even before the end of the 2025 season just how much he had fallen for his new home city, and the love is clearly still real.

As Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reported after the Seahawks punched their Super Bowl ticket in January, Naylor was determined to secure tickets for the big game. More than that, he was determined to make it a group trip with some of his teammates.

“This would be like a lifelong memory that I would have if I’m able to go and support them,” Naylor said, per Jude. “It’d be a cool team-bonding opportunity, like we’re gonna go support our team that’s a jump and a skip across the street."

Evidently, Naylor was successful in rounding up a travel squad. And his decision to show up in a No. 12 jersey was a nice touch, even if it meant eschewing (or perhaps, lending to Kirby) the No. 14 Darnold jersey he apparently owns. Counting oneself as a member of The 12s less than a year after arriving in Seattle is a bit soon, but Naylor has earned it.

The hope now, of course, is that the Seahawks will eventually be in a position to pay it forward. As Naylor said in January: “And maybe when we’re in the World Series, they’re gonna come support us.”

After 49 years of misses, the "maybe" is certainly necessary. But in 2026 perhaps more than any other year, it's never been more tempting to replace that word with a "probably."
