It is game number 25 today down in Houston and through 24 games, the Mariners are sitting right at .500. The weird part about this 2-6 road trip is that they have been playing in stadiums that have had the roof closed the entire time. While it has been a disappointing trip, I hope they can finish it off with a getaway day/morning game victory.

Over the past week, there have been some weird events that have occurred within the games that I believe we should take note of. Below is a thread of weird and interesting facts that I found from the last week of games:

Weird and Wild Mariners Facts

Julio Rodriguez Rodriguez

It was about time! Julio Rodriguez went YARD against Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara in a pivotal moment in Sunday’s game. The 3-run blast was absolutely LAUNCHED (as you see below). Credit to Alex Mayer below for finding this weird fact about Julio’s day on Sunday:

Yeah.. Logan Gilbert is the guy we all had hoped he would be. From Baseball Reference, here are his 2022 stats:

WAR       W        L        ERA        IP          SO      WHIP

1.3           4         0        0.64      28.0      27       0.929

That is pretty phenomenal work thus far in his first 5 starts. He was even awarded AL Pitcher of the Month for April. Hopefully he will keep up that success throughout the remainder of the regular season. In his first 3 starts, he made some history as well: being the second pitcher in AL history to strike out 15+ batters while allowing no more than 1 walk and no more than 1 earned run.

Ty France just keeps getting plunked. While it is completely accidental, I think Ty should continue to wear pitches. Especially due to the fact that the Mariners are 4-0 in games where Ty has been hit by a pitch.

Ty also had a torrid last week+ in April, hitting well above league average in multiple areas:
