Mariners Stud #1: Logan Gilbert

Logan Gilbert is off to an amazing start to the 2022 season, with an ERA currently sitting at 0.64 and a record of 4-0 through his first five starts. Gilbert earned AL Pitcher of the Month honors from MLB for the month of April. His performance early this season has been impressive and if he continues to provide the Mariners with consistent quality starts, the M’s rotation could be one of the deepest in the AL.

Gilbert’s growth from year one to year two of his major league career has been extraordinary. His ERA in 2021 was 4.68, so his 0.64 ERA through five starts shows massive progress. Right now, Gilbert is at the top of his game, and he is showing the rest of MLB just how good he can be.

Mariners Stud #2: JP Crawford

J.P. Crawford had an amazing first month of the season, batting .375 with four home runs, 10 RBIs, a .462 OBP, and a 1.091 OPS. He was given a five-year $51 million contract extension, and early on he is showing why Seattle gave him the extension. Crawford is one of the Mariners most consistent hitters and currently leads the team in both batting average and on-base percentage.

His power display has been a nice development as well, because he usually is not known for hitting home runs. Last season, he hit just nine home runs, but through the first month of this season he already has four. If Crawford continues to hit for power and still be one of the Mariners’ best hitters, he might be the next Francisco Lindor.

Mariners Stud #3: Ty France

Ty France was a fantastic addition to the Seattle Mariners back in 2020, when they acquired him in a seven-player trade with the San Diego Padres. Now, his production has become important to the Mariners’ success on offense. Currently, France is batting .341 with a team leading five home runs and 21 RBIs, a .410 OBP, and a .950 OPS. He was named an AL Co-Player of the Week back in April during the Mariners first homestand.

The Mariners need France to continue to produce for them, as he is one of the pillars of their offense. With Mitch Haniger hitting the Injured List with a high ankle sprain, the M’s will be counting on France to fill the void in his absence.
