Seattle Mariners lefty Wade Miley will pitch for the Mariners and right hander Carlos Carrasco will take the hill for the Cleveland Indians in Cleveland at Progressive Park to begin a 3 game series.

The Seattle Mariners (5-7) will begin a three game series against the Cleveland Indians (5-5) at Progressive Field in Cleveland. The Mariners will send Wade Miley (0-1, 8.25 ERA) to the bump against Carlos Carrasco (1-0, 3.46 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 pm PT.  The Mariners road record sits at an impressive 4-2 and they will look to continue this success on the road.

Shannon Drayer reported over the radio via ESPN 710 that there were no baseballs flying over the fence at Progressive field during batting practice thanks to a 20 MPH wind blowing in from center field.  So we will look to see which team can manufacture offense this afternoon for a series opening win.  The temperature sits at 49 degrees fahrenheit.

Wade Miley has had his struggles early on this season.  The big left hander has pitched well but has been plagued by the long ball.  Having said that, he’s only faced the same team, the Texas Rangers, in his first two starts.  So he will face a new team today in an environment that should help Miley with the wind blowing in.  He has never pitched at Progressive Field.  This will be the 28th ballpark Miley has pitched in during his career and is only 2 shy of having pitched in all 30 ballparks.

Carlos Carrasco is coming off his first win of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays.  He pitched eight innings on the road and allowed four hits and just one run.  The big righty will look to continue that roll against a team that has had its share of issues with right handers this season.

Here are today’s lineups as announced by Mariners skipper Scott Servais and Indians manager Terry Francona:

Kyle Seager has had a rough start to the season batting .119 in the first 11 games, but has had tremendous success during his career in Cleveland.  He’s played in 16 games and batted .413 with three home runs and two doubles and a triple in Cleveland.  Seager, also dubbed K-Swag, has a tendency to break out of brief slumps in a big way.  Look to K-Swag to get started smashing the ball again.

Final Score Preciction

This game should be a low scoring game.  The Mariners will string together some hits in at least two innings where they score a few runs and will look to the bullpen to hold the lead.  The Mariners seem to put up runs and wins when they are on the road.  I see this continuing in Cleveland.  The Mariners will shut out the Cleveland Indians 3-0 at Progressive Field to get the series started off on the right foot against the Indians.
