127. 1. 62. Final. 1

Wade Miley pitches well in his final spring training start and the Seattle Mariners tie the Rockies as the Mariners score one in the 9th after a triple by Ketel Marte.

The Seattle Mariners (15-14-3) tied to the Colorado Rockies (15-12-4) 1-1 Saturday evening in Peoria, AZ. There were no winning or losing pitchers in the contest as it ended in a tie after 9 innings.  However, Austin House got credit for the Blown Save after allowing the Mariners to tie in the bottom of the 9th inning.

Wade Miley was kept to just 3 innings as this is his final tuneup before the season opens up next week.  Miley allowed just 3 hits and 1 run and 3 strikeouts while walking none.  Miley had a 1-2-3 first inning.  After two outs in the second he allowed back to back doubles to Ben Paulsen and Correlle Prime that would score Paulsen.  He would then retire the last batter to get out of the inning.  In the third inning he allowed a single to the leadoff batter Jordan Patterson.  However Miley picked him off at first and went on to retire the next two batters.  An efficient three inning tuneup for Miley.

The Mariners offense would stay pretty quiet the entire game.  But Kyle Seager and Dan Robertson each had 2 hits in the contest.  And Ketel Marte would stay scorching hot as he had 3 hits and a 3 for 4 night including a triple in the 9th inning.  Marte would score on a throwing error by Austin House on a grounder by Dan Robertson.

It’s great news that the Mariners were able to tie it up in the 9th inning.  And while a tie is like kissing your sister, this is only spring training.  So let’s not make a big deal about it.  The pitchers got some work in, and the hitters got some at bats to help them tune up for when they start playing for keeps.
