Walker got the start for the M’s and went 3.2 innings, giving up 6 runs on 9 hits while striking out 3 and walking one. This clearly wasn’t his best outing of the spring, but should get at least one more start this spring to get into a groove before the regular season starts.
With 2 outs in the 4th, Donn Roach came in to collect the final out of the inning. He went 2 more innings and didn’t allow more than a hit; Roach has pitched exceptionally well so far this spring and has an ERA of 1.32. Mayckol Guaipe came in to pitch the top of the 7th for the Mariners and retired the side in order. Guaipe came out for the 8th inning as well, pitching another perfect inning. Mike Montgomery was called on to pitch the 9th for Seattle. Monty was shaky to start, allowing two runs to score before finally retiring the side to give the Mariners the victory.

The offense continued to score plenty of runs this afternoon, starting fast in the 1st inning. A Nelson Cruz single drove in Shawn O’Malley to give the Mariners an early 1-0 lead. In the top of the 8th the Mariners added to their lead. Austin Wilson tripled to drive in a run followed by a Rob Brantly single to score Wilson from third, extending the lead to 10-6.
