The Seattle Mariners (3-3) will travel to Goodyear on Tuesday to play the Cleveland Indians (1-4). First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 pm PT from Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, AZ. Nate Karns (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his second start of the spring for Seattle, and Trevor Bauer (0-0, 9.00 ERA) will get the ball for Cleveland.   The Mariners will look to climb above their .500 record today.

Nate “the Great” Karns notched a near perfect two innings in his first start.  In two innings he gave up just one hit against the San Diego Padres.  The 28 year old right hander is in a battle with James Paxton for the last starting spot on the Mariners starting rotation.  Paxton did not fare well in his outing yesterday against a tough Arizona Diamondbacks lineup giving up 4 runs and 7 hits in 3 innings.  So Nate has a big chance to take a big step forward in this competition today.  The Indians have struggled to put up crooked numbers in the early innings.  However, the Cleveland bats may have woken up from their winter slumber.  They put up 5 runs against Alex Wood and the Dodgers yesterday in the first two innings on their way to an 8-5 win.

Trevor Bauer has his name already penciled into the starting rotation for the Cleveland Indians as their number 4 starter int the rotation.  However, he informed reporters in Arizona, “I come into camp like I’m trying to get ready, like I have to win a job, every year”.  He did have an up and down campaign in 2015.  He gave up 2 solo home runs to the White Sox in his first two innings of work this spring.  So he will be looking to have a good afternoon.

The lineups have been revealed by Cleveland Indians Manager Terry Francona and Seattle Mariners skipper Scott Servais.
