Recently the Mariners announced the new organizational strategy and philosophy in a video. It was a public relations move to educate the media and the fans on their new structure and their new organizational focus. In the video, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Jerry Dipoto announced that the new plan was going to be executed at all the levels by having an Offensive Coordinator, Jack Howell, and a Defensive Coordinator, Dan Wilson.
Jack Howell has left the organization to be the Minor League Field Coordinator for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The position basically oversees the training to individual players within the minor league system. This is the position that he formerly held for the Mariners and he was replaced by Mike Micucci.

He left on good terms and went to the organization he played for 11 years. He spent two years in the minor league system and nine years on the Major League roster. So in a sense, the Seattle Mariners swapped Minor League Field Coordinators with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
The Mariners are now in search of someone to fill the vacancy of Offensive Coordinator.
