Mariners Fall vs. Rockies in Opener

Hisashi Iwakuma pitched valiantly over 6.1 innings on Friday night, but he took the loss as the Mariners lost to the Colorado Rockies by a score of 4-2.
The loss drops the M’s to 68-74 on the year and drops Iwakuma to 7-4 on the season.
‘Kuma and Chad Bettis matched zeroes into the seventh inning before Dustin Garneau hit a three-run home run to give the Rockies a 3-0 lead. Kyle Seager, who has been on a tear for the Mariners, homered in the eighth to cut it to 3-2.
Colorado tacked on another run in the ninth to make it 4-2.
The Mariners mustered only five hits on the night. James Jones led off and registered a multi-hit game. Seager, Logan Morriso and Brad Miller had the other hits.
After Iwakuma, Danny Farquhar and Joe Beimel worked a scoreless 1.2 innings. Tony Zych surrendered the insurance run in the ninth.
The Mariners will be back at it tomorrow against the Rockies.
