Remember when the Mariners traded Michael Pineda to the Yankees and then he promptly missed a year and a half with a shoulder injury? Remember how the Yankees were mad at the Mariners because they felt the M’s knew about Pineda’s shoulder?
Well, just days after sending Dustin Ackley to the Yanks, the formerly bearded wonder has landed on the disabled list.
Well, are the Yankees mad at the Mariners this time around?
That answers that. To the lineups for tonight as the Mariners take on the Rockies for game two of a three-game set at Coors Field.
My Thoughts:
1. The Mariners put up eight runs last night, here’s to hoping this lineup can produce more. The M’s are just six games back in the wild card chase, so the season is not totally over with more than 50 games left to play.
2. This game is a must-win, because with the Twins and Blue Jays tied for the second wild card spot and playing each other, the M’s cannot gain a game, but a loss guarantees they go back to 7.0 back.
3. Kyle Seager had three hits last night and it’s good to see him come around again. Nelson Cruz has a 14-game hit streak, and has been on an absolute tear. Hopefully that continues as well.
4. I’m actually excited to see Vidal Nuno hit. The former National Leaguer was reportedly blasting home runs all over the place yesterday in batting practice.
5. Jon Gray makes his MLB debut for the Rockies. Gray is the No. 42 prospect in baseball and the M’s need to get to the youngster early. This is the kind of game the M’s need to take advantage of.
Go M’s!
