The 2014 GM meetings get underway Monday and this relatively tame get together has turned into the kickoff of the Hot Stove season.
For one thing, Monday is the deadline for players to accept or reject the qualifying offer their current team extended to you.
In the first two years of this system, no player has ever accepted the offer.
Seattle Mariners fans should keep a close eye on the meetings because of the revelation that the team will be heavily shopping Michael Saunders at these meetings.
We know that the Mariners figure to be players in the free agent market, hoping to improve on an 87-win team that just missed the playoffs, despite having one of the league’s worst offense yet again.
But the idea of also being involved in the trade market means more flexibility should they lose out on names like Victor Martinez or Michael Cuddyer.
We speculated Saturday with the help of some other FanSided sites as to what kinds of deals the Mariners could get for Saunders. We’ll be keeping track of all of the rumors and news coming out of the GM meetings right here at SodoMojo all week.
You can also keep track of all of the movement of the free agents with our free agent tracker.
Should be an exciting week. What do you think will happen? Tell us your thoughts.
