Hisashi Iwakuma Dominates Twins, Gets Enough Offense
By Dan Hughes

Hisashi Iwakuma struck out a season-high 10 Minnesota Twins as Mike Zunino and Michael Saunders backed him with solo homers, giving the Seattle Mariners a 2-0 win at Safeco Monday night.
After struggling in his last two starts, Iwakuma looked like the 2013 All-Star version scattering four hits and walking none in seven scoreless frames. The Twins have not scored an earned run off Iwakuma in five tries (33 2/3 IP).
Danny Farquhar pitched a perfect 8th and Fernando Rodney pitched a perfect 9th to get his American League-leading 26th save of the season.
The Mariners offense couldn’t do much against Kevin Correia, but a solo homer by Zunino in the 2nd and an insurance solo blast by Saunders in the 7th gave Iwakuma and the bullpen all the support they would need.
After the game, the Mariners designated John Buck for assignment. Chris Young takes the hill for the Mariners on Tuesday against Phil Hughes.
