Who says that baseball and football don’t mix?
With Spring Training still about a month away, all eyes in the Pacific Northwest and the San Francisco Bay Area are focused on Seattle for Sunday’s NFC Championship tilt between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49’ers.
Well, the official Twitter accounts of the San Francisco Giants and Seattle Mariners decided to have some fun on Friday, amounting to a wager on the outcome of Sunday’s game. It started with this tweet from the Giants.
From First Pitch to NFC Championship, Kap is the man #SFUnite … http://t.co/9L7RppjK61 #QuestForSix
— SFGiants (@SFGiants) January 17, 2014
The Mariners then fired back with this.
.@SFGiants Our guy has been throwing strikes since the offseason. http://t.co/vy415kQIjK #GoHawks
— Seattle Mariners (@Mariners) January 17, 2014
Then the Giants fired back with this burn, right to the heart of Seahawks fans.
. @Mariners he had a longer offseason last season.

Ouch. It must have hurt the Mariners Twitter operator as well because over an hour passed before the Giants decided to break the silence with the wager suggestion.
.@Mariners check his road playoff record and then let us know if you want to make this game a bit more interesting #SFUnite

The Mariners responded about 20 minutes later with the terms.
.@SFGiants We’re in. WHEN we win, you have to post a photo of Lou Seal going #FeastMode on some Skittles. #GoHawks
— Seattle Mariners (@Mariners) January 17, 2014
The Giants accepted and gave the Mariners their counter terms.
.@Mariners when we win, post a pic of Mariner Moose #Kaepernicking #SFUnite #SaveYourSkittles pic.twitter.com/hf8E4p9S7H

So there you have it. The Giants, Mariners, the Moose, Lou Seal and some Skittles are all involved in one of the oddest bets I’ve seen in some time.
I guess we will have to wait until Sunday night, or perhaps Monday morning to see if the losing side (probably the Niners am I right Seattle Nation?) holds up their end of the bargain.
