More Trades?

I know that Capps for LoMo wasn’t the blockbuster deal M’s fans were hoping for. But it’s a great deal that has little risk involved. Logan Morrison is a serviceable outfielder with a decent stick that provides depth and something more…..personality.

He is a Twitter-addict. His posts are some of the most honest and at times funniest things to read online.

He recently changed his handle to @CupOfLoMo Check him out if you haven’t ever done so.

So, are the David Price and/or Matt Kemp trade talks dead? Most likely. The Tampa Bay Rays wanted Taijuan Walker in any deal and despite yesterday’s jersey number confusion, I don’t think Jack Z wants to lose the Fresh Prince of the Sound just yet. Plus, with the Rays re-signing James Loney, it’s unlikely Justin Smoak would be welcome in a package to Tampa now.

That brings us to Smoak, Nick Franklin and their impending trades.

Who do you get?

The Philadelphia Phillies have said that Cole Hamels and Domonic Brown could both be available in trades. Plus Hamels says he would love to live in Seattle.

Yes please. Here’s the deal:

Phillies get: IF Nick Franklin, SP Erasmo Ramirez and C Jesus Montero
Mariners get: OF Domonic Brown, SP Cole Hamels and minor league P Ethan Martin

This deal would probably get done without the Phils throwing in Martin, but a guy can hope. This is potentially a win-win for both clubs. If they haven’t talked already, they should.

Another possible trade of course involves moving Smoak. We’ve been talking about trading for Kansas City Royals 1B/DH Billy Butler for some time. Let’s finally make this happen.

Royals get: 1B Justin Smoak, RP Charlie Furbush and player to be named
Mariners get: 1B/DH Billy Butler

Solves the DH problem, adds the right-handed power bat the M’s desperately need and gets rid of Furbush – whom I just personally want to trade.
