If we can’t make a deal, there are still some free agent bats out there that we could look into.
We have talked quite a bit about Shin-Soo Choo and Nelson Cruz. It seems that Cruz is more than likely going to happen, at least according to Richard Justice among others.

I’m not sure I like the idea, but maybe given the right circumstances, he can be productive.
JJ wrote a piece about why we should still be in on Choo. While I disagree with the need for another lefty, we do need a leadoff guy. And I did advocate for Brown, but I just like Brown’s ceiling more. So if we don’t trade for Brown, Choo may be all we have left to consider. All the more reason to trade for Butler too.
