While no member of the Seattle Mariners were necessarily worthy of the 2013 AL MVP award, two Mariners each received a vote by a writer. No, it wasn’t one of the Seattle writers.
Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers won for the second year in a row. Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels finished 2nd for the second year in a row while Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles finished 3rd.
Hisashi Iwakuma, who finished third in the AL Cy Young voting, took home a single 9th-place vote from Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, giving him a tie for 19th.
Felix Hernandez, who finished 8th in the Cy Young voting, received a 10th place vote from Wallace Matthews of ESPNNewYork.com, netting him a single point for a 22nd-place tie.
