  • Eric Wedge has announced that Justin Smoak will serve ad the opening first baseman for the Seattle Mariners.
  • After signing his contract modification and extension, Felix Hernandez is taking it easy during spring training thus far. He won’t be in the bullpen until Wednesday.
  • Alex Liddi has been performing quite well so far at multiple positions. Rumor has it he may come out as a starter third baseman in the 2013 season.
  • Jeremy Bonderman and Jon Garland spent extra time in the bullpen working on their pitches. Both of these right-handed pitchers are recovering from injuries.
