Jesus Montero is still fighting off rumors about PED use, Felix Hernandez is celebrating the finalization of his historical contract deal, a new pitcher was signed, and the team has begun its spring training to get ready for the 2013 season.

  • Naturally, having rumors circulate linking you to the use of PEDs is NOT something you want for your career. Unfortunately, that’s the position Jesus Montero is in. He still holds to the statement that he is not involved with the most recent steroid upset.
  • Joe Saunders has signed with the Mariners. Mike Carp has been designated for assignment.
  • Spring training is under way in Peoria.
  • Evidently, Josh Hamilton has ruffled some feathers with the Texas Rangers by stating that Dallas isn’t a baseball town.
  • Eric Wedge has announced that Justin Smoak will serve ad the opening first baseman for the Seattle Mariners.
  • After signing his contract modification and extension, Felix Hernandez is taking it easy during spring training thus far. He won’t be in the bullpen until Wednesday.
  • Alex Liddi has been performing quite well so far at multiple positions. Rumor has it he may come out as a starter third baseman in the 2013 season.
  • Jeremy Bonderman and Jon Garland spent extra time in the bullpen working on their pitches. Both of these right-handed pitchers are recovering from injuries.
  • Ronny Paulino arrived at spring training Sunday to fill out the 61-man training camp roster. So far, he has been performing well.
