Since Safeco Field was built in 1999, the Mariners have not hosted post-game fireworks. All that is about to change. The team will host two separate post-game fireworks shows in the 2013 season. Pyro Spectaculars, the company responsible for the magnificent New Years Eve fireworks at the Seattle Space Needle, will be partnering with Safeco Field to put on this amazing night light show.

The first of the post-game fireworks shows will occur on June 28th following a Friday night game against the Chicago Cubs. The second post-game firework show will take place on August 9th following a Friday night game played against the Milwaukee Brewers. The team and Pyro Spectaculars are excited to be bringing this post-baseball tradition to Seattle.

The team hadn’t previously released fireworks post-game at Safeco because of Seattle’s concern that the fireworks would be a traffic hazard on nearby Interstate 5. Many different Major League and Minor League teams have post-game fireworks following Friday and Saturday evening home games. As a fan, I’m excited that there will be fireworks on these two occasions, but I hope that in the future they will add more shows. The fireworks following baseball games make a nice family summer tradition that all can enjoy.

What do you think about the post-game fireworks coming to Safeco Field?
