Thoughts on the New Sunday Alternate Jerseys

If you weren’t aware yet, the Mariners released a new jersey that they are going to wear during Sunday home games. They went with a retro, cream color jersey, with gold and royal blue for numbers and accents.

The uniform schedule, so to speak, is summed up in this tweet:

While a majority of the Twitter populous seeming to love the uniforms, I have to say, I’m not entirely sold.

To me, they look a little dirty. It looks like that white shirt you’ve had for years and has lost it’s brightness after being washed too many times. From my cozy apartment, on my PC monitor, it looks almost mustardy. Yeah, I’m going to pretend that’s a word today.

Yeah, I get that they were trying to go with the throwback look, and I like that they threw in the royal blue and gold, but it just doesn’t look good with the cream jerseys.

Do I have another color that might look better? Yeah, I would have liked it if they were white, but then they would look too much like their current home uniforms. Perhaps a dark blue would work as well, but who knows how that would have looked with the royal blue and gold.

Not going to lie though, the hats look amazing. Those are going to fly off the shelf, and I’m going to order one as soon as I can. I also hope that they require players to wear the knee-high socks. When I played, I always wore them, and it would really accentuate the “throwback” look they were trying to achieve without actually wearing the old jerseys.

All I’m really saying though, is that I need to go to a Sunday game and see them in action so I can get sold.

I miss baseball season.
