Three Mariners that could cause the team to miss the Playoffs

It all comes down to this. The Mariners are essentially in two 3-way ties for the playoffs. Here are 3 players that could cause them to miss the whole thing

Mariners #1 Culprit: Logan Gilbert

"Wait, Logan Gilbert? Isn't he doing pretty good?"

Yeah, you're right. It's odd to put him on here... or is it? Here's why I'm including him. Logan Gilbert is going to be facing the Texas Rangers twice. Those games matter more than the Astros ones in the bigger scheme of things. Yeah, it would be cool to win the Astros series, but if we don't do what we need to against Texas, we might not make the playoffs.

That's why I include Gilbert in this. He is going to be taking the mound in two of the seven games against Texas (so will Bryan Woo). If he gets shelled in them, people are going to look directly to him as one of the reasons the Mariners didn't make it.

Gilbert did have one of his better starts this year against Texas, going 6.2 with 10 Ks. He's been pretty good in his career against them as well, starting 8 games, throwing 47.2 innings with a 2.83 ERA and a 1.007 WHIP. If he can keep that up, it'll be amazing. If not... well, I'd rather not think about it.

We are right down to it, everyone. Let's hope that these three Mariners can finish strong, and we can all be celebrating come the end of the Texas series in Seattle.
